Here at WoolyGram our roots run deep. Our history begins at Elkton Tree Farm located in the rolling hills of southestern Ohio. In 1980 John and Susan Stephens founded Elkton Tree Farm, specializing in softwood timber lumber production and responsible woodland management. Elkton Tree Farm’s primary focus has always been on managing Eastern White Pine plantations for maximum quality and volume of wood. A part of this is thinning pine and turning the harvested logs into tongue and groove board paneling and other quality white pine wood products. This material is sold directly to consumers, most of whom are local customers.
In 1993 Elkton Tree Farm became the first US dealer of Woolpower products and began providing these high quality garments to employees customers and outdoor enthusiasts. John and Susan were honored with the title of Ohio Tree Farmers of the year in 1994. Also in 1994 John and Susan continued their positive impact on the health of Ohio’s woodlands by offering chainsaw training for landowners. The purpose of this training is not to send people out to harvest their own mature timber, but rather prepare them to do the necessary cutting to keep their woods healthy and thriving. The best trees are identified and released based on individual landowner criteria, the value added due to increased growth is simply amazing.
Sadly John passed away in October of 2008. Susan continues to operate Elkton Tree Farm to this day. Recently, Susan decided concentrate her efforts on lumber processing and transferred her Woolpower dealership to WoolyGram.
Here at WoolyGram we are thrilled with this opportunity to continue John and Susan's vision and legacy by providing high quality, functional and durable products to our customers. Susan, her employees, customers and family will always be a part of the WoolyGram family. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change please contact CeCe Graham at CeCe@WoolyGram.com or Amy Vandemotter at Amy@WoolyGram.com.
